Carved Anniversary Box

I completed this back in the summer but I don't think I ever posted about it. It's a carved wedding anniversary box, centred around the letter M, for the couple's last name. It took for-eeeeeeeeever to design and carve but I was really happy with the results and really hope that the recipient was as well....

Carving complete, wood still naked...

And here it is with a Golden Oak stain...

And here's the side of the box...

and with the lid open.

Stouffville, and card rack

Well, I'm off to set up my table for the Stouffville "Beyond Craft" show (see below for flyer). I was in great need of a table-top card display rack and I could not find one, so I made one. It took two full days and involved many tantrums (Drilling into plexiglass? Super annoying) but here it is. I'm so proud of it.

Award winner and new Annie cats...

It's been a month since I participated in the Cabbagetown Arts & Crafts sale. I had a somewhat remote spot right across from the horses of Riverdale Farm and it was great. I will definitely be participating again next September. And to my delight and extreme surprise, I won an award. You can check out the link to the award page here. I was happy to learn that Shuyu Lu also won an award. I met her at the show and really, really love her work, you can check out her amazing work here.

My booth at Cabbagetown. I think this is the best set-up to date, thanks to my patient and talented team of professionals, my dad and my boyfriend.

I've just completed a new, small batch of Annie Cats with kittens. All three of these can be purchased at Higglety Pigglety in Port Hope.

I will have more Annie Cats available for my upcoming shows.... Best get back to the shop!

Ransack the Universe

I've taken a box full of prints and cards to a very cool store in Toronto.

Located at 1207 Bloor Street West, in the 69 Vintage Collective building, Ransack the Universe is on the lower level, and you can follow their blog here. The whole building is worth checking out, full of really cool vintage clothes, bags, shoes and decor.

Whale Thank you box set

A customer just ordered 20 Whale Thank You cards so I thought it would be nice to deliver them in a little box. I made the box out of some thin cardboard, covered it in blue linen paper and pasted one of the whales on the lid. I hope she likes it.

Cabbagetown Arts and Crafts Sale, New Prints!

This weekend is the Cabbagetown Arts and Crafts sale. It will be my first time participating and I'm excited to be a part of it. The show opens Friday September 10th at 1pm and runs until 6pm, and is open Saturday, Sept 11th and Sunday Sept 12th from 10am to 6pm. Admission is FREE. All other details can be found on their website.

I've completed a new set of original lino-prints. I was inspired by William Morris, as I often am. I used three Canadian birds and wildflowers. These were some of the most complicated lino-prints I've ever worked on. Each print used two blocks, and each block was carved down twice to equal four colours for each print. It was really hard to get the registration to work out. Then I hand-painted in some final details. I think they turned out well and I'm proud of them. I've just posted them in my etsy shop and they will be available for sale this weekend at the Cabbagetown festival, framed and unframed.
